Ronaldinho bagged a brace as Milan crushed Juventus 3-0 and a touched Leonardo waved goodbye to San Siro.
The Bianconeri have amassed 15 defeats in a single Serie A season, a club record matching the 1961-62 run.
There was only pride at stake here, as both teams were already secure in third and seventh place respectively. Leonardo and Alberto Zaccheroni waved goodbye in their final games after confirming their exits. Mathieu Flamini sat out a ban, while Daniele Bonera, Massimo Ambrosini, David Beckham, Momo Sissoko, Sebastian Giovinco and Antonio Chimenti were injured. Diego and Felipe Melo were not 100 per cent fit, so Antonio Candreva took the trequartista role.

Milan made it 3-0 with a Ronaldinho brace, confirming his strong record against Juventus, as he also netted two in Turin. Zambrotta's long cross found an unmarked Dinho down the left side of the box and his snooker-shot flashed across Manninger into the far bottom corner.
Ronaldinho was also visibly moved as he made way for Pippo Inzaghi and accepted the standing ovation from San Siro, then held Leonardo in a long hug on the touchline.
Dida took two touches to get a Claudio Marchisio snapshot under control, while on the counter Thiago Silva had to put the ball out for a corner under pressure. Dida also waved goodbye, as he is expected to leave Milan this summer.
A late Ronaldinho penalty mathematically secured a Champions League spot for Milan thanks to a 1-0 win over Fiorentina.
Both giants were struggling to stay afloat and ending the campaign with a whimper. Leonardo admitted this week he was "incompatible" with President Silvio Berlusconi and likely to leave. He adopted a 'heavy' trident attack with Clarence Seedorf in support, but missed David Beckham Alexandre Pato, Alessandro Nesta, Ignazio Abate and Oguchi Onyewu. Fiorentina changed system by dropping Juan Manuel Vargas for an extra midfielder. Mario Alberto Santana, Manuel Pasqual, Alessandro Gamberini, Dias Felipe and Gianluca Comotto were out of action.

18,000 Milan fans, roughly a quarter of the San Siro's capacity, want Berlusconi to leave...Milan fans want Silvio Berlusconi out of the club, and they are ready to march through Via Turati demanding he steps down as president.A group called "Berlusconi Out Of Milan, Protest In Via Turati" has appeared on social networking site Facebook, and it has over 18,000 members...
Fans are furious with another trophyless season, and even more enraged at Fininvest, the club's holding company, who this week said major cut-backs would happen, and that they had spent €237 million in five years on the team.
A protest is now being planned as they attempt to push Berlusconi out. This comes less than 24 hours after Berlusconi allegedly claimed that Leonardo would leave the club, only for his aide Adriano Galliani to deny the whole affair.
Some extracts of the anti-Berlusconi group statement reads:
"Having spent €237m to then find themselves with a team dragging their feet for years is not a note to be proud of, or a justification."
"The management of the club is bordering on the ridiculous."
"We want transparency, and that everyone takes responsibility."
"Milan have become the most ridiculous team in Europe."
Milan clash with Fiorentina at the weekend. They have won just once in their last six games.
Despite falling four points off new leaders Roma, Leonardo remains “optimistic” that Milan can challenge for the title.
They had the opportunity to close the gap, but had to fight back from 2-0 down to scrape a 2-2 home draw with Catania.
“We are not giving up anything,” insisted the Coach. “I repeat, we are not going to give up on our targets.
“Roma are the form team in Serie A right now, but they have some difficult fixtures coming up, while Inter continue to drop points. I think it's all still wide open.”
Marco Borriello's brace made up for dismal defensive errors that had allowed Maxi Lopez and Adrian Ricchiuti to score.
“The second half made me happy, but we simply didn't play in the first half. We got the wrong approach to the game and were playing at too slow a tempo. It was bad, but after the break we got ourselves out of a difficult situation.
“I liked the reaction that my team had in the circumstances. I was surprised by the attitude of the fans today, as they seemed to take a step back.
“I hope we can end this season on a high, as the lads deserve it. It's true we are struggling with fitness and injury issues, but I see a great hunger to overcome them with team spirit.”
